Abstract: As a Project finance intern at VCE, my internship was focused on building financial models for large scale projects including Solar PV projects, Infrastructure projects and Manufacturing unit projects. As this role requires an experience with the skills in financial modeling and its related concepts, thus in the initial period of my internship I was provided tasks which helped me build knowledge of project finance and its related financial concepts. I was provided tasks in order to understand project finance basis, financial models and large-scale projects revenue models in which project finance is used. The tasks were required to completed within pre-specified timelines, along with the learning task I was also required to undergo a Corporate Skill Development Training course in which I was required to list down my current skill set and the skill sets which are essential for the corporate position. Both the initial learning tasks and CSD tasks helped in building my present skill set and knowledge. In the later stage of the internship period I was required to apply my knowledge and analysis in a real case problem of 50 Housing Project in Gurgaon. I was required to build a financial model and use several financial analysis techniques including internal rate of return (project and equity IRR), Debt service coverage ratio and several other parameters to evaluate the profitability of the project. For the project, I worked on excel for building a dynamic Financial model incorporating the case details and then, I submitted a report analyzing the same along with industry outlook and challenges & issues in the construction industry. I was required to attend zoom sessions in order to interact with the mentor and other interns. On successful completion of the internship, I was also appreciated as the ‘Best Intern’. The internship gave me an opportunity to have an experience of the corporate world.
