Abstract: This report is prepared for the sole purpose of providing insights about the household appliances industry in India. The product segments included in the analysis include white goods as well as brown goods. According to CEAMA, the household appliances market is estimated to be at ₹76400 crores including white good appliances as well as Televisions and audio equipment. The growth in the industry is driven by factors such as rise in disposable income, rural electrification, availability of credit and various other factors. The household appliances industry has seen a key shift in consumer preferences in the market and has been able to adopt with the same. India relies heavily for components of white goods appliance on other countries. Distribution plays a crucial part in this industry and is done mainly through multi brand outlets, retail shops and exclusive brand stores. There is a presence of a lot of Indian as well as foreign players in the Indian consumer appliances industry. OEM or Original Equipment manufacturers are also present which manufacture the appliances for different brands. Although Covid-19 has disrupted the industry in the short to medium term, with government initiatives such as Make in India the industry is expected to grow further with local manufacturing focusing on the self-reliant aim of the government.
