The footing is subjected to various kinds of loading. The various theories are available to estimate bearing capacity of footing subjected to various types of static loads, ranging from a central vertical load and eccentric loads are reported in this study. The strength of the soil reduces significantly when subjected to seismic excitation because of large inertial stresses induced during shaking. This decrease in strength of the soil leads to a significant reduction in bearing capacity of the footing. This reduced bearing capacity of the footing is termed as Seismic Bearing capacity of the footing. The aim of the present study is to estimate seismic bearing capacity of footing by parametric study of various methods. This seismic bearing capacity of footing is used to propose the geometry of footing and carry out structural design. The present study includes the analysis and design of footing by manual and software calculations. The model is generated in commercial software ETabs. The structural design of footing is done for static and seismic conditions. The base shear values are evaluated by manual and software calculations and compared. The cost of steel and concrete required in footing is calculated for seismic conditions and their comparison is done with structural design of static conditions.en_US
