Abstract: Intel is entering into discrete Graphics card market. PC Gaming with DirectX11 is one of the major segment of discrete Graphics market. This project proposes to build a tool to profile the Graphics and system memory utilization of UMD (User mode driver) when running DX11 Games/Apps. Tool will use Microsoft ETW framework to log instrumented UMD messages and visually represent the data. The messages would contain the textual data for the memory through the pipeline of the graphics. The visual representation would show blocks of memory usage for different types of resources and will be color coded for better viewing experience. As a next phase proposed tool will have simulator interface capabilities to optimize/debug the Memory Management algorithms of UMD.
