Abstract: The purpose of this major project work is to analyse the design methodology of permanent magnet synchronous reluctance motor and their technical issues and possible solutions for EV application. PM assisted synchronous reluctance motor are used in EV application because of their advantages properties like fast dynamic response, low cost and higher efficiency .However, with compared to the major advantages of traction motor such as high power and torque density, wide speed range and low torque ripple this motor is still under investigation. The main aim of this project work is to identify electrical, magnetic and geometrical parameters of machine performance and to verify the suitable design methodology for achieving better performance of PMSRM for automotive application. Hence computer added and analytical analysis followed by reference on prototypes is carried out to satisfy proposed method and possible solutions to the motor’s technical issues for EV application.
