Abstract: There are many individuals using a particular system. Their authentication and authorization definitions will be structured as per their requirements. To manage all such individuals or identities we require a structured manner with well-defined protocols. Thus Identity and Access Management essentially fulfills this need to be more organized and well-structured. The Identity and Access Management (IAM) service provides a single sign-on experience to end users of the cloud applications. One can also use it to control how other services interact with that application. Identity and Access Management (IAM) supplies critical mechanisms for identity provisioning, authentication, authorization, and access control. IAM provides enterprise identity management to integrate multiple applications built on the cloud application, enabling clients to use the benefits of a single identity across a wide range of applications, including consumer, enterprise, and Internet of Things (IoT) propositions. This report discusses the main practices used for identity and access management for cloud based environment.
