Abstract: | This reports gives the information about the project that I have performed in my Summer Internship Programme at Outlook Publishing (India) Pvt. Ltd. a Rajan Raheja Group Company. The main objective of this project was to train us in sales work and to make us learn how to use different operations tools and strategy in order to make optimal decision for the firm. The whole project was divided into five task which were Product Learning, Operation Strategy, Aggregate Planning, Logistics and Supply Chain and Inventory Management task. For the first task we were briefed about the five types of magazines that firm produces and sold it to customers and were asked to generate revenue for the firm by learning about the product and doing the sales of the same. I first learned about the magazines and then I pitched it to the customers and was able to generate 12 new customers with a revenue of Rs.18,786 for the firm. In the second task I researched about the supply chain of the industry in order to identify all the elements of it, used Product Process Matrix tool to provide supply and procuring strategy and also performed cost benefit analysis in order to define which function of supply chain should be in-house and outsourced. Then I applied all the strategies of aggregate planning and performed some calculations and defined which strategy the firm should apply. In the next task I chose Exide Industries Ltd. as a Rajan Raheja Group Company and Amara Raja Batteries Ltd. as a competitor company in the same segment and noted down each and every LSC strategy of both the companies in order to define which company has better LSC strategy, and also applied tools like 4V Analysis, 4 Perspective of operation strategy and Operation Strategy Matrix for Exide Industries Ltd. in order to suggest some optimal operation strategy decision. In the last task I applied EOQ model of inventory management and define the optimal quantity that the firm should order in order to incur minimum inventory carrying cost. This reports also briefs about the company and the sector to which the company belongs. |
