Abstract

Having a keen interest in the financial services sector and aspiring to build a career around investment and trading was the main reason to select Hem Securities ltd. for my summer internship. The company is a leading provider of financial services in India and offers products and services across multiple segments of the financial services sector. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions imposed on movement most of the employees have been working from home. Hem securities ltd. head office is situated in Jaipur and they offered a hybrid internship project which would have allowed me to gain corporate experience but due to the second wave I had to work from home for the entire duration of my internship. The tasks and duties assigned to me were enriching for my career and I learnt a lot about working in this sector. I was able to gain valuable industry experience about investment and trading in the Indian stock markets, majorly NSE and BSE. Analysing quarterly and yearly results allowed me to develop a multi-dimensional view of monitoring and optimizing portfolios for clients and creating value for investors. Researching for the EIC report has been a knowledgeable experience, I learnt a lot about analysing economies through macroeconomic trends, themes and indicators, also key demographic trends and globalization factors. Overall, working with Hem Securities ltd. has allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills. Using this experience, I aspire to build a career in the financial services sector in the future.
