Abstract: | In the manufacturing of the large diameter and heavy shell, welding is the primary process by which different parts are joined to each other. Mostly carbon steel material is used for manufacturing of shells. Without any fixture, it is not possible to the manufacture these heavy shells. Present work discusses the design of TSR welding fixture, in which fixture is stationary and shell rotates on tank rotator. The fixture assembly has two cabins. By assembling fixtures dual operation can be done. A necessary arrangement for SAW head is mounting also designed for tracking the path of welding. Two structures of fixtures are assembled with flange assembly and pins are inserted for rigidity, after welding, it can be de assembled and used again for another job. A necessary arrangement for SAW head mounting is also designed for tracking the path of welding. Two structures of fixtures are assembled with flange assembly and pins are inserted for rigidity, after welding, they can be de assembled and used again for another job. Traction rail is facilitates the fixture for movement. TSR welding fixture can weld 12 meters diameter shell and its minimum capacity is 6 meters. With dual-operated technology (D.O.T) it can save time by welding from both sides with two cabin structures. |
