Development of Handwritten Gujarati Character Recognition algorithm

Abstract

So many research has been done using various methods for the various languages throughout the world. Recognition of Indic script is difficult task because of vowel modifiers ,half forms and composition of few characters etc. Gujarati script Recognition is a less studied area and small number of research works for Optical character recognition(OCR) related to Gujarati script are carried out, particularly for handwritten characters. Recognition of handwritten character is a very complex area of research due to variations present in writing styles of different persons. In this project various Feature extraction methods and very popular classifiers that are Naive bayes and Support Vector Machines are implemented for Handwritten Gujarati characters.
