Abstract: This project envisages the development of a GUI based control software for oper- ation and maintenance and data logging of a Coherent CompexPror Excimer Laser (ArF laser, 193 nm) using LabV IEWTM instrument control software. Currently the operation of the laser is carried out manually using the wired keypad. The main motivation of the development of this GUI is for easier user convenience as well as for future use when the laser will be used with the plasma accelerator system and cannot be accessed by the user during operation. Various operations like operating parameters of the laser, laser gas lling proce- dure, calibration of the internal energy meter of the laser etc., which are manually carried out now, will be automated using the above programme. The project will develop the essential LabV IEWTM virtual instrument modules, GUI interfaces and the essential display screens for laser control, parameter display and documentation of the operational parameter data of the laser. The project also will develop a completely automated module for calibration of the internal energy meter of the Excimer laser with an external laser energy meter (Coherent FieldMax- II). This one-switch, automated operation provides a linear- tted calibration curve at the end of the operation The control of the laser is established via a RS-232 interface coupled to the PC through a RS-232 to USB interface.
