Abstract: High voltage DC power systems are required for powering high power microwave sources such as tetrode, gyrotron, and klystron. These high power devices are to be protected in case of fault which should be cleared within 10 microseconds. This requires fast acting High voltage switches connected in parallel to the load that must divert the energy from the high voltage fault within few microseconds. These devices are known as crowbars. Project is about to design Anode power supply and the crowbar system for the microwave tube. Crowbar which is an electrical circuit used to prevent an over voltage condition of a power supply unit from damaging the circuits attached to the APS. Here Anode Power Supply is used to pulse the 42GHz Gyrotron. The rating of power supply is 35kV, 100mA and floating at -70kV. Integration of the whole anode power supply and its crowbar to the other power supplies like cathode high voltage power supply, filament power supply and collector magnet and gun Magnet power supplies, there in the project. All the power supplies are use for development of a 42 GHz, Gyrotron. The developed Gyrotron will be used by IPR, Gandhinagar in its TOKAMAK System for the Plasma research.
