dc.description.abstractThis project offers a newly design and built industrial automation technique for compressor testing procedures, for their final tests of assembled or manufactured compressors.Sequential total test procedure activities for a model of centrifugal compressor tests have been developed showing importance of the valuable standard as British Standards (BSi 1217:2009) and also why it becomes necessary to use of them so as to achieve the data so accurately and precisely serving useful enough to monitor and diagnose. In this particular project it is developed how some of the activities can be automated using SCADA. For data listening such as pressure and temperature values of a compressor a pressure transducer and a temperature sensor as RTD, respectively, have been suggested to be used at the experimental and testing stage. The output derivatives i.e. the measured + corrected specific energy with respect to the measured and rated specific energy value and other core parametric values as suggested by the BSi standards, is displayed using GUI on a computer screen for visualization as well as recorded in the computer memory for further uses. The complete software tool and the GUI screen is developed using National Instrument's LabView well embed with the company's innovative SCADA system, HKSCADA. A decision making algorithm is built which allows only those parameter data that lies within a tolerance limit and thus ensuring the consistency with regards to precision and accuracy of the calculated values. The results of the research based experimental project could be valuable information and technology usable while accessing the energy audits in the compressors manufacturing industries as well as for the compressor using industries for test at the production bed.en_US
