Abstract: This project presents the modelling of system for level control using system identification techniques. In this project a prototype of the system was developed first. The system was tested on an open loop system to obtain measurement input-output signals. Input and output signals from the system are recorded and analyzed to infer a model. The system identification toolbox in MATLAB was applied to generate a model of the system. The experiment testing of system only considered in level control. The objective of this project is to reduce or eliminate the error in a modelling due to load changes and accordingly parameter updation. The conventional PID & Adaptive PID using online parameter estimation with ARMAX was implemented to control the level so that the level will maintain its desire set-point. Then the results were compared with the output of PID and adaptive PID for set point tracking and disturbance rejection.
