Abstract: Development of novel formulations with improved functionality and performance made possible by nanotechnology has revolutionised the cosmetics industry. The use of nanotechnology in cosmetics is now trending and will continue to advance, as summarised in this review. Including liposomes, dendrimers, nanoparticles, and nanoemulsions, the first section gives an overview of the numerous nanomaterials utilised in cosmetics. The advantages of nanotechnology in cosmetics are discussed in the second section, including better skin penetration, improved stability and shelf life, and increased efficacy. The final section talks about the legal and safety concerns surrounding the use of nanotechnology in cosmetics. The overview is concluded with a discussion of the prospective applications of nanotechnology in the cosmetics industry, including customised cosmetics, smart cosmetics, and nanosensors for skin examination.Overall, the assessment emphasises the substantial influence nanotechnology has had on the cosmetics market as well as its potential for future expansion.
