dc.description.abstractStainless steel wire mesh (SSWM) has become popular for civil Engineering applications, especially in structural up gradation due to their sound Engineering properties. SSWM wraps are successfully employed as external Confinement for improving the strength and ductility of existing concrete beam column joints. The present study is focused on the mechanical response of exterior beam column junction wrapped with SSWM. Beam-column junction plays a very important role in moment resisting framed structures, when it is Subjected to seismic loading. Amongst all the junctions, exterior junctions are Considered as the most critical due to asymmetric loading under seismic action. To study the behaviour of external beam-column junction wrapped with SSWM, 1/3 scale specimens are prepared having cross section of 120 × 150 mm for beam and 120 × 120 mm for column. For these tests, static eccentric loading is applied and considering displacement and rotation is measured with fixed boundary conditions. The structural response has been measured in terms of displacement and rotation, strain at the joint. LVDT and load cell are used to measure displacement, rotation and load respectively. Electronic strain gauges are used to evaluate strain induced at different locations for the beam-column junction. Numerical inquiry is also done for validation utilising ABAQUS software that is based on finite elements (FE). It is compared between the reinforced RC beam-column junction and the control beam-column junction by compiling the results, maximum displacement and rotation under corresponding load, crack pattern, failure pattern and stress in concrete, strain in steel, torque–twist curve, ultimate torque and corresponding twist, strain on SSWM have been calculated.en_US
