dc.description.abstractEvery city has inbuilt system of growth in itself. The morphology of the city has been changing and evolving by looking at the old city and city expansions over the years with respect to various aspects like change in socio-economic backgrounds, change in culture and occupations and many more. The morphology of the city is studied by various physical features of the city of different scales like room, dwelling, building facade, plots, streets and neighborhood. Each City is formed by different types of built typology which is reffered as typo morphology. The context taken for this study is Gondal. Gondal is one of the forted town of kathiyawar region located in Rajkot district. It is known for its colonial style architecture. There are many historic palaces which is influenced by colonial style which is merged with the culture of Gondal city. Over a period of time the town evolved outside the fort city. The study will be focusing on the morphology of urban form of three different areas which will cover some part outside and inside of the fortified town of Gondal and to understand the patterns of fabric, buildings and how social background of the people plays role in evolution of urban elements. Further, the study is concluded by comparing the morphology of old and new settlement of the city.en_US
