Abstract: | Ghats are characterized by a series of steps leading down to the water's edge, they hold a significant importance in Hindu mythology. Many cities in India play an important role in the religious significance of the ghats along the river bank. Mathura, one of the oldest city with religious importance has many ghats on the bank of the river Yamuna. In which Vishram Ghat is one of the oldest ghats in Mathura with historical significance. This research aims to analyze the Vishram ghat through the parameters of Kevin Lynch's theory- Image of the City. It looks into understanding the architectural response of the ghats on the water's edge and also focuses on the historical background of ghats, their evolution, and origins. The study sees how the interrelationship of edge and water with the architectural response of Ghats. |
