dc.description.abstractTh17 cells are a subset of CD4+ T-helper cells that are well-known for their role in deriving immune responses against extracellular pathogens as well as their involvement in the development of autoimmune diseases. Th17 cells have been shown to play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of several autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. In such diseases, Th17 cells are thought to contribute to tissue damage and inflammation by producing certain pro-inflammatory cytokines. Autocrine and paracrine mode of actions of these cytokines may influence the Th17 cell development, maintenance, and function. So, targeting Th17 cell cytokines may represent a promising therapeutic approach for treating autoimmune diseases. IL-24 is a cytokine that has been traditionally known for its anti-cancer properties, but recent research has revealed that it can also play a role in the regulation of Th17 cell responses. Studies have shown that intracellular IL-24 can modulate the expression of IL-10 by Th17 cells, leading to a reduction in their pathogenicity. So, IL-24 may have therapeutic potential for the treatment of autoimmune diseases by regulating Th17 cell responses. In this project, IL-24 and IL-24 Fc protein were cloned, expressed, and purified.en_US
