Abstract: | The skin, the largest and most vital organ of the human body, consists of three layers: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis, serving as a protective barrier against external elements. Various skin conditions such as acne, dryness, and sensitivity necessitate specialized skincare techniques like cleansing, exfoliation, and protection. The skincare market is rapidly expanding globally, driven by heightened consumer awareness and increasing prevalence of skin issues. Market projections indicate significant growth, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.5% expected to reach $194.96 million in 2024 and $204.61 billion by 2031. A survey conducted among 151 respondents revealed that the majority were females aged 16-30, primarily with oily or combination skin types. Acne and dryness were the most prevalent concerns, with daily skincare routines typically taking less than five minutes. Commonly preferred skincare techniques included cleansing, moisturizing, and SPF application, with toner often applied via spray or cotton pad. Water-based products and singlestep routines were favoured, with product selection based on ingredients, brand reputation, and dermatological recommendations. Online reviews and advertisements influenced purchase decisions, while cruelty-free and dermatologically tested products were preferred. Despite occasional skin irritation from commercial products, home remedies like turmeric and Aloe Vera were found effective. Additionally, factors such as diet, sleep, and stress were noted to impact skincare effectiveness, with users often monitoring progress after product usage. |
