Abstract: This thesis tackles the limitations of manual material handling by developing a battery-operated transfer trolley. The electric motor, powered by a rechargeable battery pack, reduces operator effort and improves maneuverability within warehouses and factories. The project focused on two key aspects: trolley development and battery performance optimization. The trolley's design prioritized strength, weight, and functionality. Material selection considered durability, weight limitations, and cost-effectiveness. Fabrication ensured the trolley met the design specifications for safe and reliable operation. For optimal battery performance and safety, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was conducted. This analysis assessed heat generation within the battery pack during operation and charging. The CFD results guided the selection of cooling mechanisms and battery management systems, maximizing battery life and preventing overheating. The final product, a battery-operated transfer trolley, offers significant advantages. The electric motor reduces physical strain, while the rechargeable battery eliminates the need for tethered power sources, increasing operational flexibility. The CFD analysis optimizes battery thermal management, contributing to the safety and durability of the framework. This project demonstrates the viability and benefits of battery-powered technology for material handling equipment, promoting improved efficiency and better ergonomics in industrial settings.
