Abstract: The following research aims to look into the methods that have been implemented to bring about a revolution in the field of intersection between Biology , Design , Engineering and Architecture. From time immemorial , humans have looked toward nature for solutions to their problems. As a race , we are psychologically built to look up to organisms that inspire us – and to achieve , celebrate and decode their accomplishments and ways of sustenance. The recent advent in technology has allowed us to explore the multi faceted realm that lies at the intersection of engineering , science , art and computation – bringing us a step closer to unravelling the ideas existing in nature . This research aims to position itself within this intersection to uncover the ideology and methodology behind a bio-integrated workflow in nature inspired design strategies – to learn and analyse different strategies implemented in the design processes undertaken to realise a nature inspired product. It aims to uncover the lien of thought that has been used to develop design inspiration from nature. For as long as there has been civilisation , there has been an existing solution in nature to all our problems – and this proves to be true in the field of architecture and design as well. Biological solutions have often proved to be complex , multi-functional and highly responsive in the case of adaptation. To analyse design strategies in nature and their implementation in architecture so as to be able to tap into the most innate character of nature –of sustenance , growth and evolution when time demands – is a baseline ambition for this research.
