Multimedia traffics on IP network is a challenging research area. Various aspects of streaming the multimedia traffic and their QoS based routing is conquering the current studies related to Multimedia Networks. In most of the cases the multimedia networks are implemented using DiffServ Architecture. Differentiated Services (Diffserv) is architecture for providing different types or levels of service for network traffic. One key characteristic of Diffserv is that flows are aggregated in the network, so that core routers only need to distinguish a comparably small number of aggregated flows, even if those flows contain thousands or millions of individual flows. Support for Differentiated Services on Linux is part of the more general Traffic Control architecture. But the kernel in its minimal form does not have this support. The kernel needs to be recompiled to include this support.Under this architecture Traffic class is defined based on various QoS parameters. The paper covers mainly two basic components. The first is related to the installation and configuration aspects for implementing DiffServ Architecture using software routers (XORP). The other aspect is related to the development of a DiffServ based Video streaming technique at the Source Node. This approach deals with assigning a high priority to the I-frame of the multimedia Transport Stream, and further releasing it to the software based router (XORP) with higher priority. The architecture is implemented on IPv6 stack due to its support for real time traffic.en
