Material handling equipments are an eminent part of the human life. Modern techno- logical era cannot be imagined without various material handling equipments. Cranes are amongst one of the material handling equipment which _nds wide applications in di_erent _elds of engineering. The present work is an e_ort to cover complete design and analysis of EOT crane (100 tonnes capacity). Manual design has been done in accordance to the various relevant IS codes. Since the procedural design involves exhaustive calculations hence, an attempt is made to develop software using Microsoft visual Studio 2008 to avoid tiring calculations. Modelling and analysis of the entire crane components and their assembly (based on the manual design) has been done using Solid Edge ST and Ansys 11 respectively. Dynamic study of EOT crane has been done considering it as a simply supported uniform Euler-Bernoulli beam carrying a crane-carriage and payload. Key words: EOT crane, design, analysis, software developmenten
