dc.description.abstractComposite laminated plates are being increasingly used in modern engineering appli- cations, due to their high strength-to-weight and sti ness-to-weight ratios. The high speci c strength and speci c sti ness which are the bases of the superior structural performance of composite materials provide the composite materials many applica- tion choices. Holes of di erent shapes are inevitable to meet certain operational requirements. These holes and openings act as stress raisers. Thus, it is essential to predict the stress elds around these holes. In the present work, stress functions for a in nite composite laminated plate with cir- cular hole subjected to in-plane and bending load have been obtained using Mushkel- ishivilli's complex variable approach. The generalized stress function so obtained has been coded using MATLAB 7.0. Furthermore,the e ect of various parameters such as Loading conditions, ber orien- tation angle, stacking sequence and material property on the stress functions have been studied. The results obtained are in close agreement with available literature. ANSYS 11.0 has been used as FEM tool to compare the results of present solution, the results are well matching with that of FEM solutions. Analytical method is superior as it facilitates the parametric study of the stress anal- ysis and takes very less time.
