Abstract: Openings/cutouts are made into structures in order to satisfy some service re- quirements. These openings works as a stress raiser and may lead to the failure of the structure/machine component. In order to ensure safety and reliability, it is nec- essary to predict the behavior of stress pattern around openings/cutouts under the application of various types of loading conditions. A problem of laminated composite in nite plate with a hole, under di erent type of loading conditions is solved using Mushkhelishvili's complex variable method. The stress analysis of in nite orthotropic plate with two holes, subjected to di erent types of loading, is solved using Schwarz alternating method. The generalized solutions ob- tained, are coded in MATLAB 7.0. The e ect of centre distance, loading factor, material properties, and ber orientation angle on stress pattern is studied. The loading conditions considered here includes uniaxial, biaxial, or shear loading at in- nity. The solution is veri ed with some of the existing solutions in the literature and with nite element results (ANSYS). The results are in close conformation with the present method.
