Abstract: Electromagnetic analysis for induced currents at transient conditions for the vacuum vessel and cryostat plates of Steady state Super conducting Tokamak (SST-1) at Institute for plasma research (IPR), Gandhinagar, Gujarat needs to be worked out during Vertical Displacement Events (VDEs) or disruptions. The eddy currents are produced on the Vacuum Vessel (VV) and cryostat systems surrounding the plasma in SST-1 due to the change in position of plasma during the plasma instabilities. The presence of a high magnetic field due to the toroidal field coils induces electromagnetic forces on interaction with the induced eddy currents. The finite element analysis software used for carrying out the project is ANSYS. The project work is to evaluate the exact currents that will be induced in the components with the actual modeling of geometry and with a mapped meshing. The work also involves the theoretical background for the complete mechanism to compare the analysis results.
