Abstract: | Inspired by the human’s ability to recognize faces as special objects and motivated by the increased interest in the commercial applications of automatic face recognition as well as by the emergence of real time processors, research on automatic recognition of faces has become very active since last 30 years. Face recognition technology has numerous commercial and law enforcement applications, such as bankcard identification, access control, mug shot searching, security monitoring, and surveillance systems. Despite the success of these systems in constrained scenarios, the general task of face recognition still poses a number of challenges in illumination, facial expression and pose. |
