Abstract: The turbo code is one of the most powerful types of Forward Error Correcting (FEC) channel code. This paper is about Turbo codes - codes constructed via parallel concatenation of two non recursive convolutional encoders linked by an interleaver. The focus of the work is on the understanding of the design of Turbo codes by simulations of MAP algorithm on MATLAB. The authors have also implemented the LOG-MAP algorithm. The simulations are carried out with transmission on additive white Gaussian noise channels. A simple interleaver design algorithm based on observations is presented. Finally authors have plotted the BER v/s SNR curve.
