dc.description.abstractThe liquid metal heat exchangers, in general, are designed for heat transfer applications at high temperature in reactors like machines. Such applications use liquid metals like lead lithium, lead bismuth eutectic, and so on and the flowing liquid metals not only carry out the works of heat transfer but also supports, chemical reactions leading to production of desired chemical products. Based on these specific functions, such special large scale heat exchangers are commonly denominated as Blankets in such machines. The liquid metal flow is subjected to the flow temperature, the heat flux received and the internal heat generation due to influx of neutrons and so on. The project work is to carry out the thermal hydraulic analysis for lead lithium heat exchanger for a typical reactor application. The analysis will include all the above loading conditions with an enclosure of helium cooled plates. A supporting theoretical work on the above analysis will also be carried out in order to validate the simulated results. The modeling work will be carried out in CATIA software with the finite element meshing using HyperMesh software. A coupled field analysis with structural, thermal and fluid will be conducted using ANSYS, finite element software.en
