dc.description.abstract | The opportunistic organisms like Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Aspergillus niger, and the food lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus delbreuckii subsp. lactis have been chosen for MDR studies in the present work. The obtained P. aeruginosa strain was resistant to Clindamycin while A. niger was resistant to Ketoconazole. Lactobacillus delbreuckii subsp. lactis was found to be sensitive to most of the antibiotics. In the present investigation various extracts of Momordica charantia, Cymbopogon citratus, and Azadirachta indica are used. None of the extracts possessed bactericidal or fungicidal activity. The phytochemical screening determined maximum presence of alkaloids and flavonoids in Momordica charantia and Azadirachta indica while the percentage of tannins and phenols was found to be maximum in lemon grass. The membrane protein determination showed variations in the protein concentration of the organisms treated with different plant extracts and antibiotics. Lemon grass showed the highest effect while bitter melon showed the least effect against the organisms. | en |
