Abstract: A converyor belt is a device that presents a continually moving surface that is designed to move objects from one location to another. The conveyor belt is a long loop of rubber or plastic (usually combined with steel for strength, just like tire treads), that is wrapped around a set of motorized rollers that cause the surface of the belt to move forward or backwards. Belt conveyers are employed for conveying various bulk and unit loads along horizontal or slightly inclined paths and transporting articles between various operations in production flow lines. It is structurally made from steel, concrete or of composite material. It become more important to know its economical aspect as its manufactured cost is too high. A Belt Conveyor Gallery is analyzed for various loads like transverse load due to short supports of conveyor frames, longitudinal load due to moving of belt, Wind load, dead load and live load. Its designed is carried out by using STAAD-Pro and checked manually. The analysis and design of pile foundation and pile cap is also carried out. Moreover this thesis also gives brief calculation and introduction about the connections. Further a comparative study is carried out by using different material properties (steel and concrete) for the gallery. The cost comparison for Double Layer Conveyor Gallery and Parallel Conveyor Gallery is carried out and represented graphically. The software used for modeling, analyzing and design is STAAD-Pro 2007. This thesis also shows the brief introduction about the use of the software STAAD-Pro 2007.
