Abstract: | Microstrip fractal antennas are becoming very popular for various practical applications, including commercial, military and government applications. Microstrip fractal antenna allows large perimeter with a small area on patch so as to optimally utilize the structure of an antenna. In this thesis, a variety of microstrip fractal antenna designs are proposed. The design of microstrip fractal antenna using coaxial probe fed is proposed for size reduction and it is operating at two di erent ISM bands. U-shaped line-fed wide-slot antenna is proposed for wide band application and its bandwidth is seven times higher than conventional design. The Co-Planer Waveguide (CPW) fractal antenna is designed for two widebands and a fractional bandwidth of 31:77% and 23:27% is obtained for 1.36 GHz (3.6-4.96 GHz) and 1.62 GHz (6.15-7.77 GHz), respectively. Microstrip-line-fed printed wide-slot antenna with a fractal shaped slot for bandwidth enhancement is proposed by etching a wide slot in fractal shape at various order of iterations with iteration factor of 0.25, it is found that the operation bandwidth can be signi cantly enhanced with higher order of iteration. |
