C-DC converters are used to provide providing dc link voltage in high power, medium voltage application like UPS, Adjustable speed drive and SMPS. Mostly, AC-DC converter technology is designed by line commutated uncontrolled diode rec- ti ers and phase controlled Thyristor recti ers, which have certain inherent draw- backs. With the development of power semi-conductor device technology, the self commutated device like MOSFET, IGBT are available and researchers are focusing to operate these devices by gate pulse width modulation technique because by remov- ing the pulse, these devices immediately turns o . Most of the application requires these converters for fast control and dynamic performance. There are various PWM techniques which are used for control purpose, all have their own merits and demerits. A modi ed sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique used here. Proposed recti er has feature of providing the desirable boost d.c output voltage and still maintaining the unity power factor at the input side and low THD. By changing modulation index and phase shift in sinusoidal PWM, one can control power factor as well as voltage regulation e ciently.en_US
