dc.description.abstract | There are several programmable logic controllers is available in market. PLC is an industrial computer control system that continuously monitors the state of input devices and makes decisions based upon a custom program to control the state of devices connected as outputs. The speed and accuracy of the operation can be enhanced using this type of control system. The programmable logic controllers are used in a wide range of applications. The biggest benefit in using a PLC is the ability to change and replicate the operation or process while collecting and communicating vital information. It does not require any conversion card, and therefore, costs less than a computer-based protection method.It is faster and more efficient than the classical techniques because of the electronic equipment used in the experiments rather than mechanical equipment. Almost any production line, machine function or process can be automated using a PLC. The main aim of this thesis is to familiarize with use and application of PLC and design a practical control panel for external plunge grinding machine. Then by simulating all the available options, found out best suitable system, which can meet the industrial requirement. This thesis demonstrates the PLC in grinding application for external plunge machine. The report contains the simulation of control panel for grinding machine is done with GX-Developer and GX-Designer software. The result obtained from the test on motor performance is provided. Other performance parameters can also be monitored by other control devices and drives can also to control the motor rotation direction and rotation speed. All the required control and motor performance data will be taken to a personal computer via PLC for further analysis. First hardware implementation of full panel is carried out. Trouble shooting with the hardware setup is done by modifying hardware and also software. At the end hardware implementation of external plunge grinding machine is done. Thesis also includes necessary hardware results and images of machine setup. | en_US |
