Abstract: Laminated plates made up of different composite material have been taken for the analysis. Computer programs are developed based on the constitutive relation of Classical Lamination Theory and displacement model based on Higher order Shear Deformation Theory, subjected to inplane membrane force and in plane bending moment. Based on this, various problems of laminated plate have been solved and results are presented. Finite element formulation has been developed based on the theoretical formulation derived for two displacement models. A nine-node isoperimetric quadrilateral element is considered for deriving element stiffness matrix, load vector and displacement vector. Computer programs are developed for both the displacement models (HSDT) for the finite element analysis of a variety of symmetrically laminated composite plates having simply supported and fixed boundary conditions subjected load and uniformly distributed loads. The results of numerical problems available in literature are solved and discussed, in order to establish the reliability and accuracy or the present finite element formulation.
