dc.description.abstractHydraulic modular trailer (HMT) is one of the most safest way to transport heavy and over dimensional objects on road. And as per government standard, gross laden weight of HMT is xed. So to increase pay load capacity, unladen weight of the HMT should me minimum. The frame of HMT is one of the main component where the scope of weight optimization is there. This dissertation is carried out to design, analysis and optimization of hydraulic modular trailer frame. General analitical design procedure is carried out treating frame members as a beam subjected to uniformly distributed load (UDL) and equivalent point loads due to other members. Frame members are also vari ed using DT Beam v1.0 software. Then, sectional properties of di erent members of the frame are calculated manualy. Finite element model is prepared using shell63 4node element in ANSYS. Modal and linear static stress analysis is carried out. Using product benchmarking, Tretec and Cometto models are selected for the study and sectional properties are measures by reverse engineering. Using ANSYS APDL, parametric model is prepared for analysis and optimization using shell elastic 4node63 element. Frames are optimized using design optimization module available in ANSYS using rst order optimization method.en_US
