Abstract: In the new economic year and globalization phase, industries are required to man- ufacture good quality machine tools with optimized performance at the moderate cost. Moreover, the industries are facing competition internationally due to world- wide globalization of business. Present work deals with the design and analysis of Vertical Turret Lathe for 1000 mm turning diameter capacity. This includes design of machine structure, selection of components like ball screws, LM guide ways, spindle etc. accordance to the various relevant standards and validation of structure through FEM analysis in various elds like stress, displacement and mode shape using Pro/Mechanica, simulation module of Pro/Engineer. Also 3D components and assembly have been carried out using Pro/Engineer software. Also 2-D machining drawings have been obtained. The selection of components for machine according to required machine speci cation and operating condition consumes so much time in calculation. For this purpose, the software has been developed using the Visual Basic as a programming tool.
