Abstract: A Set Top Box (STB) or Set Top Unit (STU) is a device that connects to a television and an external source of signal, turning the signal into content which is then displayed on the television screen. A STB also can act as a gateway between your television or PC and your telephone, satellite, terrestrial or cable feed. The analogy STB receives encoded / compressed digital signals from the signal source and decodes/decompresses those signals, converting them into analogy signals displayable on your analogy television. STB is updating its technologies and providing new feature to the user. To test these STB, STATS tools is used which stands for ST automated test suits. This execute test on the STB which is automated. But testing process for a person does not only consists of executing test cases on STB, one needs to get the drivers and application version to be tested for STB, compile the code and load the output les to the STB before executing test cases. The testing process is fully automated here and existing STATS is optimized. Generation of verdict for test cases was taking much time in present system, this process of validation is optimized and a new approch is given where once a test case is executed gets the verdict before next test case starts execution on STB.Addition of automated Verdict generation of PER(Performance) category is done whose metric for verdict generation could be reduced and increased. Jitter introduction process for IP STB is also automated which now does not require human control to start test case execution on IP STB with new jitter value.
