Es(Small & Medium Enterprice) consume a lot of energy due to ine cient usage of energy which otherwise can be conserved by the usage of e ective thermal insulations. In the present study, an Indian SME was identi ed on the basis of replication potential for implementing thermal insulation practice & energy con- servation. Thermal imaging technique using thermography camera was conducted to identify the surface temperature and accordingly the heat loss components spe- cially the dryer unit of Pulp & paper industry in the SME. An energy and exergy analysis of dryer unit was done before and after insulation application. The major heat loss from dryer before applying insulation was 12.6 TJ per year while after applying insulation heat loss reduces to 3.39TJ per year. The major exergy loss from dryer before applying insulation was 3.024 TJ per year while after applying insulation exergy loss reduced to 0.339 TJ per year. The payback period calculated on the basis of simple interest for the mentioned case study was almost 2 months.en_US
