Abstract: Progressive collapse is spread of an initial local structural damage causing partial or total collapse of structure. Initial local damage is caused by accidental loading due to gas explosion, blast, vehicle collision and faulty construction practices for which buildings are not designed. The U.S. General Service Administration document provides the general guidelines to assess the potential for progressive collapse in RCC and Steel buildings. In this study multi storey RC framed structure is considered and analyzed as per the GSA guideUnes. Effect of plan geometry on progressive collapse potential is studied in detail with regular and L shape building. Linear static method is used for progressive collapse analysis.
