Abstract: For better performance of buildings under lateral forces due to earthiquake, they should be planned symmetrically in horizontal as well as vertical directions with respect to mass and stiffness. But in real life problems buildings are not having symmetry in plan and such unsymmetrical buildings are subjected to torsion during earthquake. IS 1893 (Part 1) 2002 [1] gives guidelines for calculation of torsional forces developed in unsymmetrical buildings due to earthquake. In this paper relevant clauses lot (vision analysis are discussed with illustrative example.
