Abstract: Demand of energy is growing as world is doing progress and becoming developed. Fossil fuels are the major source of primary energy for the various industrial operations. The limited availability and polluting nature of these fuels has forced to think for efficient energy use. As energy is wasted in different forms, it is difficult to find out exact location and reason for the loss of quality of energy. Exergy analysis is proved to be efficient tool to pinpoint these losses and their location. It works on the principle of second law of thermodynamics. Cement industry is one the most energy intensive industry. It consumes both electrical and thermal energy. Energy required for cement manufacturing is between 3.5 to 5 GJ/ton. The present paper makes comprehensive review of exergy analysis of cement manufacturing process. Exergy analysis of various equipments like kiln, raw mill, trass mill, rotary burner and overall process is reviewed.
