In the present study polyethylene waste is pyrolysed in the primary chamber with the help of plasma torch. On pyrolysis various gases such as CO, CH4, H2 and higher hydrocarbons along with some amount of soot particles are formed. These pyrolysed gases are combusted into carbon dioxide and water vapour in the combustion chamber. As a result, the secondary chamber attains temperature ≥10000C. Complete and efficient combustion is required to prevent the formation of toxic compounds such as dioxins and furans and soot particles. In order to make the combustion complete, there is a need for designing an appropriate combustion chamber, which should take care of sufficient residence time of molecules in the hot zone and maintain sufficient temperature in the combustion zone. In addition, the design should create desired turbulence for efficient combustion. Further this paper describes the various design aspects, considered prior to the designing of combustion chamber.en_US
