Abstract: | The method of using Boost type of converter was accomplished for a single-phase full bridge diode rectifier. By designing the necessary techniques and methodology, the overall PF (Power Factor) and THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) would be improved according to IEC Standards. The cause of having low PF and high THD for a diode-capacitor type of rectifiers is related to non-linearity of the input current. Method of re-shaping the input current waveform to be similar pattern as the sinusoidal input voltage is done by the Boost inductor and the MOSFET switching at moderate frequency (50 KHz) and the related firing scheme that in a whole, acts as a Power factor correction circuit. Further, the software analysis is done for the effect in input power factor with the variation in supply voltage keeping the output voltage constant with constant duty cycle and variable duty cycle. Moreover the emphasis is given on the Feedback compensation network, which would help in the complete regulated operation of the PFC rectifier with different loading conditions. For this purpose, the hardware realization of the PFC CONTROLLER IC UCC28019A has been done and is verified with the adequate plots on the scope. The complete theoretical analysis, operating principles, simulation results are presented. |
