Abstract: | An AC to DC converter circuit using phase shifted gate pulses gains several advantages over conventional pulses by separating the pulse width control of converter. This include the substantially reduced inverter switching losses and transformer saturation problems, fast response and reducing size of the filter component, greatly reduced peak reverse voltages on rectifier diodes, and simple means for limiting the peak output voltage and the peak current in all of the semiconductor components under transient conditions. These advantages are of major significance for high-power converters employing a high switching frequency (e.g., 2.8 kW and 5 kHz). The proposed approach allows building a converter with high frequency of operation. A detailed analysis of the operation is presented. The output voltage is controlled by PWM. The complete theoretical analysis, operating principles, simulation results are presented. |
