dc.description.abstract | The simplified method based on V-load method is widely used as an approximate method for the analysis of horizontally curved girder highway bridges. The simplified method is only applicable for the radial supports either the bridge is a simple span or a continuous spans. The analysis can be extended to composite I-girder bridges with any support configurations. The simplified analysis is applicable for non composite and composite horizontally curved I-girder bridges under dead load and IRC live load. The dead load analysis is quite accurate and the live load analysis is influenced by the lateral distribution factors. The lateral distribution factors gave acceptable results for both exterior and interior girders. The simplified method is not valid for closed framed I-girder systems with horizontal lateral wind bracing. Simplified method is presented to compute the warping stress. A procedure developed in this paper can be used for the preliminary or routine design of horizontally curved steel I-girder bridge. A design example is outlined in this paper using a simplified method | en_US |
