The present thesis work contains introduction to zeolites which includes information about zeolitic structures, their primary and secondary building units. It also contains information about their shape selectivity and molecular sieving e ect that are found in zeolites. It also includes application of zeolites as a adsorbents, as a catalyst in ion exchanging, as a water softening agent, etc. This thesis also includes literature survey on the synthesis of nano-zeolites and also contains comparative study between nano-zeolite and conventional zeolites for various applications. To perform comparative study between zeolite samples which are synthesized in research laboratory by nano methodology and conventional(micro-crystalline) zeolites, charactetization techniques such as powder XRD and FT-IR spectroscopy are used to determine the structural information about zeolites. BET method is used to determine textural properties and NH3 TPD technique is used to determine acid strength of zeolite samples. McBain adsorption set-up is used to carry out water adsorption study on zeolite adsorbents. All the synthesized nano zeolite samples and conventional samples were used as adsorbents to carry out comparative study of water adsorption kinetics between them. The Mcbain adsorption results are t to Pseudo- rst order model equation to determine water adsorption kinetics and di usivity was calculated using HSDM model equation. This thesis also contains the catalytic study between nano zeolite and commercial conventional zeolite for Methanol to Ole n (MTO) process. Here, a bench scale xed bed catalytic reactor is used for MTO process. Synthesized nano zeolite and commercial conventional zeolite were charged in this xed bed reactor and process parameters were kept identical to perform comparative study.en_US
