The 80 K thermal shield for the Steady State Superconducting Tokamak (SST-1) at Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) is proposed to cool using forced ow single- phase sub-cooled liquid nitrogen at atmospheric pressure of 7 bar at 80 Kelvin tem- perature. To meet this requirement centrifugal type booster pump is envisaged. This pump should produce ow rate of 50 Liters/Minutes and head of 44m. After choosing appropriate material for liquid Nitrogen (Cryogenic application), Impeller with its casing is designed analyticaly from existing literature available. De- sign is also done using standard commercial softwares (ANSYS and CfTurbo). Results of analytical dimensions and softwares are compared. CFD analysis is carried out particularly on impeller for liquid Nitrogen and pres- sure and velocity pro les are obtained. Stress analysis is carried out on impeller blade and it is found that induced stress will be much lower than allowable stres. Performance prediction strategy is developed. Pump performance is predicted in CfTurbo software. Results obtained in CfTurbo are in clsoe approximation with an- alytical results. The complete design and analysis of centrifugal pump is presented here.en_US
