Abstract: An Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) is driverless transport system used for hor- izontal movement of material. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) are one of the greatest achievements in the eld of mobile robotics. Without continuous guidance from a human they navigate on desired path thus completing various tasks, e.g. fork lifting objects, towing, and product transportation inside manufacturing rm. The aim of the this project is to develop an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) which gives exibility of changing guide path in the manufacturing rm. Conceptual model of fork type AGV is developed using PRO/E software. Fork, power screw, chassis, shaft, spring, motor and gears are some of the important components of the model. All these components are designed to meet functional requirements. For design of chassis and fork DT beam software is used. Design is validated using ANSYS soft- ware. Optimization of chassis is done using ANSYS APDL. Based on the dimensions obtained actual working model of AGV is developed.
